Since the dawn of time (or at least YouTube) many people have been wanting to downloading videos that people have uploaded to YouTube, yet nobody can ever find a good, free application to do this. That’s where Easy YouTube Video Downloader comes in! Easy YouTube Video Downloader is a Firefox addon that allows you to download YouTube videos straight from the website. Some of it’s amazing features are:

Fastest downloading of the videos compared to competing companies that offer the same service!

Full 1080p HD support!

M4A file option provides highest sound quality!

Numerous amounts of different file formats!

HD download option only available if video is in HD! No extra buttons when you can’t use them!

Over 1,000,000 users!

So, you know how good this addon is, and I’m pretty sure you’re excited to use it, but how do you use it? Where do you get it from? How easy is it to use? Well, I’ll show you. Let’s begin!

First of all, download the addon from ‘here‘.

Restart your browser, and you will be greeted with a page asking if you want to download the external application. Essentially, this application allows for 30x faster downloads, but if you want to download just from the browser click “No, I want slow downloads” or something along those lines.

Find a YouTube video you want to download, and click the ‘Download’ button below the video. It should look something like this:

Click it, and a list should pop up with various different formats, similar to this:

Click on the format you want, and it will begin to download the video just like any other download.

You’re done! You’ve successfully downloaded a YouTube video, straight from your browser!

This addon can save you a bunch of time if you need to download videos, however one thing I would like is the option to download just a part of the video, instead of the entire thing. Either way, you can easily chop down the file to size if necessary. I hope you enjoyed this post, leave your comments on your favourite Firefox addons below, and thanks for reading!

Hey guys, welcome to another IRC tip blog post! I don’t want to make these ‘tip’ blog posts too long, but I still want them to be informational. So, highlighting on mIRC isn’t exactly the greatest. It can be hard to tell when you’re being highlighted, and sometimes can miss important notifications you need to notice. This is where this mIRC script comes in. Now, it isn’t mine, I got it from a hawkee post ‘here‘ along with the thumbnail picture. Essentially, you drop this script into your mIRC remotes window, and then it will pop up a nice little picture of who highlighted you, and in what channel.

on ^*:TEXT:*:#:{
  if ($nick == Global) { halt }
  elseif ($me isin $1-) {
    var %qtip $tip(highlight,Highlight on $chan,» $nick has highlighted you in $chan $chr(40) $+ $time $+ $chr(41))
  }
}

And that’s it! It works flawlessly, without any problems. If you need any further help, don’t forget to leave a comment. I hope this helped you, and thanks for reading!

All capes are for specific people who have accomplished something. For example, akronman1 was the 1,000,000th buyer of Minecraft, and therefore received a cape. More recently, Minecon attendees were given a special Minecon cape to show that they went. Unfortunately, not everyone can have a Minecon cape, or buy the 1,000,000th copy of Minecraft, but still want to have a cape. Well, CapeCraft allows you to do just that. CapeCraft is a simple mod for your Minecraft that will allow you to have a cape that is changeable on the website. Please note that only other people with the mod can see your cape on multiplayer servers. Let’s begin!

Firstly, head over to ‘here‘ and sign up for a free account. You’ll need to use your Minecraft username, but you can use any password you desire.

Download the class file from ‘here‘. Now, if you’re not sure on how to install mods in Minecraft, read on. If you already know how, install it, then skip to step 6.

Go to your start button, then type in ‘%appdata%’ without the quotations. (If you’re on Windows XP, go to start, then click run, then type ‘%appdata%’ without quotations.)

Your appdata folder should open up. Just go ahead and click on ‘.minecraft’ then ‘.bin’. There should be a file there called ‘minecraft.jar’. Right click on this, and open it with any archiving program you’d like. I prefer to use WinRAR, located ‘here‘.

Drag the ‘vi.class’ file you downloaded into the minecraft.jar file, and delte the ‘META-INF’ folder. You can now close out of all these windows.

Now, head back over to the CapeCraft website, and login to your account. Go over to the top right hand corner, and you should see a button saying ‘Open Panel’. Click on that, and it should expand downwards. Click on ‘Account Settings’.

Next to ‘Upload Cape’ click the ‘Open’ button. It should expand, and you will have the option to upload your cape. If you don’t have a cape to upload, you will already have the Minecon cape (the red cape with a creeper face on that). Feel free to download that, and edit it to your hearts content.

And that’s it! Log into Minecraft, and your cape should be there! It’s that simple! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, and if you need any further help, feel free to leave a comment. Thanks for reading!

A lot of gamers enjoy free first person shooters, especially when they are at a good standard, and are quite addicting. A few months ago I discovered a free game called ‘Urban Terror’. This game is a multiplayer FPS (first person shooter) in which there are a few guns, and you run around killing. The game features multiple different game modes, such as Capture the Flag, Team Deathmatch, Free for All, and much more. However, this post is not about that. In this post, I’d like to give you a bit of an in-sight into the guns of the game, and help you choose which gun to use in specific occasions. I’ll do 3 of the guns I use most often. So, let’s begin!

Heckler & Koch G36E

This gun is commonly refereed to as the G36, and is an excellent starting weapon. It features a single level scope, an alright amount of damage, a moderate accuracy, and has an decent fire rate. The G36 can be equipped with a silencer, however you can’t use a laser point. Some details are:

Caliber: 5.56 x 45 NATO

Magazine: 30 Round Capacity

Fire modes: Semi-Automatic, Burst, Full-Automatic

As I said, the gun has a moderate accuracy. More specific details are:

Normal: 86.93%

Scoped: 86.62%

Silenced: 87.49%

Silenced & Scoped: 87.85%

Average: 87.21%

All in all, a decent gun.

Kalashnikov AK-103

This weapon is usually called the ‘AK’ or ‘AK103′. It has the least accurate spray, and is the slowest machine gun, however it does even it out due to the power this gun has. If fire is kept in small bursts, the gun is highly accurate and capable with a lot of stopping power. Some details are:

Caliber: 7.62 x 39

Magazine: 30 Round Capacity

Fire modes: Semi-Automatic, Burst, Full-Automatic

The gun is not very accurate, as the information below shows:

Normal: 60.43%

Laser Pointer Equipped: 63.61%

Silenced: 58.31%

Laser Pointer and Silencer: 62.61%

Average: 61.24%

A pretty decent gun, depending on the situation.

Remington SR-8

This weapon is commonly referred to as the ‘SR8′. It is the main sniping weapon in the game, and has 100% accuracy no matter how slow or fast you fire it, as long as you scope it. The gun features a three level scope, and can be equipped with a silencer. Some more details are:

Caliber: .338 Lapua Magnum Round

5 Round Capacity

Fire modes: Bolt Action

As I stated above, the accuracy on this gun is pretty epic. Here’s some more information about the accuracy:

Normal: Random

Silenced: Normal

Scoped: 100%

Scoped and Silencer: 100%

Average: 100%

A great gun for sniping in any occasion.

Every month, me and Martyn get together and answer some questions sent in by our readers. We group some questions together, and answer them! So, let’s begin!

1) Which social networks are you on?

Martyn – Twitter.

Haydn – Twitter and Facebook. I also use Youtube and Skype (if you class those as social networks.)

2) Do you think social networking is an effective marketing technique? Why?

Martyn – In some cases, as it is publicising with large communities.

Haydn – I believe that social networking can help to interact with the community, and brings higher end companies closer to their customers.

3) In your own words, what is social networking?

Martyn – Facebook: The place where ‘friends’ means people you may have the slightest of knowing someone, and where they moan about petty things. (This is why I don’t go on it.)

Twitter: Where I can relax, knowing nobody I have met in real life will read, and where people are much more intelligent.

Haydn – Social networking is a somewhere online people can discuss general things. As Martyn said, this is more easily done over Twitter, where nobody you know in life will read it.

4) Do you think social network sites can help in day-to-day tasks?

Martyn – No, I’d much rather use email to contact people in day-to-day tasks rather than social networks.

Haydn – I think talking with people online can be made easier with social networks, however they can also be quite distracting whilst trying to do tasks that don’t involve others.

And that’s it! Your questions, answered! Be sure to send in your questions for next months post, and just a wild guess, but do you have a social networking site open in another tab right now? Comment if you do. Thanks for reading!

This will just be a quick post to address my thoughts, and just to inform you guys. So, what happened? Dozens of rumors have been thrown around, accusing the other of being wrong. Supposedly, the Yogscast team swore on stage at Minecon, and now Notch fought back. Honestly, you can’t pick a side right now. As of the time of writing this post (10 PM GMT, 21/11/11) the Yogscast have not released a statement on their side of the story, therefore making it unfair to choose a side.

To further extend on what Yogscast did, they dropped the f-bomb on stage at Minecon. They also were swearing at each other on the live stream panel, and even when to the extent of signing a possession of a little kid with ‘f*ck off’. This has created a massive uproar, and caused many to be very upset with Yogscast’s behaviour. They also made the English look bad, and made ‘non-english’ people think we are egotistic and stuck up.

Now, you can’t expect someone in an argument to be as good as gold, right? Well, that’s true. Notch did come out with some hypocritical remarks. For example, in the interview with Notch that the Yogscast held (ironic, huh?) he was making jokes about masturbation, as well as some of these jokes on his blog. This obviously confused people, and made people unsure on who to believe.

As I said, the Yogscast have currently not released any statements on their side of the story, and thus we can not judge them accordingly. So, what are your thoughts on this whole argument? I personally think, kiss and make up. Arguments like this can break a gaming community instantly. However, discussing it with a few people, we have come to a conclusion of it possibly being some sort of publicity stunt to bring publicity to one another. However, this seems a little extreme for some more hits to some Youtube videos and a game, don’t you think? I’ll update you again tomorrow on the turn out of the events, and make sure you’re all up to date. Thanks for reading!

In this post I will showing you a simple mIRC script which will allow you to countdown to any date and time. Good for things like birthdays and CHRISTMAS! It can be triggered by either a channel command for use on a bot, or with an alias command, for example /christmas which will message the current channel. There are three possible outputs, one being the amount of week, days, hours, minutes and seconds it is away, just how many seconds it is away or a combination of both.

First off the alias for a christmas countdown.

alias xmascount {
  set %cd.date 25/12/11
  set %cd.time 00:00:00
  set %cd.sec $calc($ctime( $+ %cd.date $calc($asctime(yyyy)+1) %cd.time $+ ) - $ctime)
  say Christmas is in $duration( %cd.sec ) or %cd.sec seconds
  unset %cd.*
}

The %cd.set nested in the $duration will give the weeks, days etc. output.

For the bot trigger version, you need to change the “say” to “msg $chan” and add the trigger to call the xmascount alias.

on *:TEXT:*@xmas*:*: {
  /xmascount
}
alias xmascount {
  set %cd.date 25/12/11
  set %cd.time 00:00:00
  set %cd.sec $calc($ctime( $+ %cd.date $calc($asctime(yyyy)+1) %cd.time $+ ) - $ctime)
  msg $chan Christmas is in $duration( %cd.sec ) or %cd.sec seconds
  unset %cd.*
}

This script can obviously be changed and edit for what ever date you want to count down too, aswell as being able to impliment multiple versions with different dates.

I thought, with this amazing transition, it’d be fitting to ‘review’ Minecraft. Call this a review, a changelist, a show off, anything. Either way, you may be wondering; “OMG HAYDN! HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?!?!?!?” Well, it’s not. Minecraft is too broad a game to review every last thing about it, however I can review some of my favourite things in the game. I’ll go in order of releases into the game, from when I started playing, to recent releases. Prepare for a long post!

NOTE: AS A REFERENCE, SOME OF THE INFORMATION ON THIS PAGE IS FROM THE MINECRAFT WIKI

Survival Multiplayer Support

Minecraft as we know it wouldn’t be the same without multiplayer support. Before this was added (before version 1.0.10 Alpha on the 20th July 2010) Minecraft was somewhat dull. Running round, by yourself. Everybody thought that Minecraft was destined to be a boring, singleplayer game. We was wrong when Notch added this support, even if it was buggy, it still generated the most purchases for Minecraft. In version 1.0.14 (which was added on the 3rd of August, 2010) Mojang allowed us to enter our own IP, instead of just Mojang’s server.

Halloween Update

The Halloween update is most famous for The Nether, yet some people forget some of the other little things that were included in the update to version 1.2.o Alpha on October 30th, 2010. For example, Creepers were given a new sound, the fishing rod was given a reason (for catching fish), Pumpkins and Jack-O-Lanterns were added to randomly generate in random places in the world, and the amazing watch was included! This patch also included the HUD and viewmodel removal option, just by hitting F1!

1.2!

The title for this one was impossible to choose, there was just so much in this release! So, instead of wording this into a paragraph to waste your time, I’ll list some of my favourite changes in a list.

The ability to dye wool.

Spiders can climb walls.

CAKE!

Added a new water mob; squid.

Dispensers secretly added.

Added note blocks.

Added sugar.

Bones can be crafted into Bone Meal.

Sandstone.

So much more!

1 point awesome 3!

This update has to be the second biggest update on Minecraft, next to 1.6. Their is so much more than 1.2, and it would be impossible to write a paragraph about it. So, here comes another list!

Redstone Repeaters Added.

Added Wooden Slabs, Cobblestone Slabs, and Sandstone Slabs.

Can toggle between classic lighting and ‘smooth’ lighting.

Built in whitelist command added for multiplayer servers.

Bobbing can now be seen in 3rd person view.

Mining time for Sandstone reduced.

Sandstone found at the bottom of naturally generated sand.

Redstone Wire will get darker the further it gets away from the power source.

Sulphur renamed back to Gunpowder.

Higher Slime spawning rate.

New Mojang logo splash screen.

Graphics settings screen.

‘Natural turning’ can be toggled by hitting F8.

Ability to have more than 5 worlds.

Added beds!

1.4 (mostly useless) updates

It happens with every game. A practically pointless update comes out, with one or two useful additions come out, but most completely oblivious to the general playing of the game. Cookies were added, which will heal the player for 0.5 hearts. Like I said, pointless. Another pointless aspect of this update was the ‘Locked Chests’ gag added for April Fool’s day. Click ‘here‘ to read more about this hilarious prank! The inventory hotkey was also changed to ‘E’, which I find pretty pointless. A new Minecraft logo was added, and sneaking while climbing on a ladder, which is pretty pointless. Now, the useful additions to the game! The much anticipated wolves were added, that the player could tame by right clicking with a bone. The wolf would then assist you in combat. A lot of the statistics and achievement code was added, but not functional. Wait, that’s pointless as well…

1.5 (useful) updates

1.5 was a lot more useful than the last update, and definitely invited a lot more aspects to the game, to make it more realistic. First things first, weather. The laggiest part of Minecraft. The hype for the weather was so big, it was the main reason people wanted this update! However, we were definitely let down, when Notch created a giant lag ball falling to the blocky world of Minecraft. In addition to this epic fail, we have some cool new blocks and items. For example. detector rails and powered rails were introduced to boost up your Minecart speed. The Statistics and Achievements code was put into action, and was released publicly. Some other cool things added were that pigs and creepers would ‘transform’ into something different when struck by lightning. For example, creepers would turn into these charged walking green sticks of doom, along with a pig transforming into a Zombie Pigman. Redstone dust could also now be placed on snow, crafting a ladder produced 2 ladders to balance out the fixed ladder glitch. If you’re not sure what the ladder glitch is, it’s basically when a player could have a gap in between each ladder piece, and still be able to climb it. Crops hit with water will drop seeds and wheat, as opposed to just wheat.

1.6. WOW.

1.6 was the update of all updates. It had so many updates, and remove lag from slower computers. It also brought some sneaky little updates, such as 15 different music disks being added. That’s right. The new music disks we thought to have been added in 1.9 has been there for the past 3 updates!

Nether support in Multiplayer

Craftable Maps

Added trapdoors

Added Tall Grass in certain biomes.

Dead Shrubs added in deserts.

Mushrooms now spread in dark.

Doors make sounds for other players on multiplayer servers.

Ice regenerates whether it is snowing or not.

Blocks destroyed by other plays on a multiplayer server show the breaking block particle effect.

Fire spread is nerfed.

Sleeping in a bed in the Nether causes the bed to explode.

Bone Meal can grow tall grass and flowers on a grass block.

Added ‘Performance’ in Video Settings. Can be set to Max FPS, Balanced or Power Saver.

Crafting recipe for cloth blocks and glowstone blocks (2×2 instead of the usual 3×3)

1.7. What’s not to like?

Minecraft 1.7 has to be the most amazing update yet. I love it. Why? Well, the items added are the items I use the most often, and it helps me play the game more effectively. For example, Mojang added pistons to the game. This helped on the many things I like to build in Minecraft, and made my builds a lot more complex and interesting. Shears were added to be able to break wool blocks quicker, and be able to collect leaves from trees (again, improving my Minecraft builds.) Redstone wiring will now connect to repeaters, and Sheep will only drop wool if you shear them, unless you kill them (but you will only retrieve one block from killing.) New textures for Cobblestone and Brick was added, and a Silverfish skin was left in there (for the upcoming 1.8 release.) Cobweb now requires a sword or a shear to be broken properly, and drops 1 string when successfully destroyed. Squids can also despawn, resulting in the ability to ‘un-clog’ your fancy mob spawners.

1.8 (Adventure Update)

1.8. The most wanted update EVER on Minecraft. We were teased for the 1.8 release for 2 months until Mojang decided to release it. The update included so much, it would be impossible to include it all. Things such as new food items, sprinting, more achievements, and so much more! Please refer to the Minecraft Wiki ‘here‘ to see the whole list of the updates.

Now, I apologise for the terrible long, 1300 page post. But, if you did read it all, have an internet cookie! I’m pretty tired from all this writing, and you’re probably tired of reading, so I’m going to stop boring you to death, and I hope you enjoy the full Minecraft release! Thanks for reading!!

Everyone has that friend that knows all those pointless and useless facts. Ever wondered where they get all this information? Well, usually it’s online. If you’ve ever wanted to be the ‘smart ass’ of the group, or even just do some research, you can use a neat little website called ‘Wolfram|Alpha’. This website (as stated in the title) is known as a ‘Computational Knowledge Engine’. This means that it generally knows everything, from domain name hosting information, to how many calories there are in a banana, or even information on famous people. All of this in one simple, easy to use search engine.

The website has a very sleek, orange design to accompany it’s amazing results. The website offers a way to find anything. And I mean ANYTHING. Here’s a few examples for you:

The probability of rolling different numbers on a different amount of dice.

What the Roman numeral for a specific number is.

The area between the curves y=1-x^2 and y=x.

Birth place, death place, date, notable facts, pictures, full name, and more about specific people.

And, that’s basically it! There really isn’t much to say about a search engine, even if it’s one of the smartest in the world. However, I’ve decided to create a video for you, so you’re not left without any visual presentation of it. Enjoy, and thanks for reading!

Most people now-a-days have been shopping online more than ever. Whether it be a new TV, or even some software, we all like to save as much money as possible. Times are hard, and prices are high. How about finding the cheapest price, quickly and easily? No need to jump around different sites and going through the lengthy process of comparing all the deals. InvisibleHand does just that.

Just as the name suggests, the addon stays invisible until it finds a great deal for you. Plane flights, restaurants, or even monitors, InvisibleHand will scan over 100 different websites, to find you the cheapest deal on whatever you happen to be buying. Let’s take a test product they have, for example. This Apple iPod Touch 64GB (4G) is $364.95 on Amazon.com. However, InvisibleHand pops up at the top, telling me that there is a cheaper deal on another website, and I can click on this to take me to that website!

And that’s it. Really. Just like the 2 steps on their website, install and save money. Easy. I hope this post helped, be sure to click ‘here‘ and install the InvisibleHand addon. It works for all major browsers such as Firefox, Chrome and even Internet Explorer! Well, I hope you liked this post. Give me your feedback on this addon in the comments, thanks for reading!
